How early is too early?

I arrived at 11.50 for a 12.00 interview today. Blokey says 'you're a bit early'...I stayed silent initially as it was an observation/stating the bleedin' obvious. Then he gives me his best Paddington hard stare and says it again. WTF?? It's 10 minutes. Ir's not my fault you weren't ready for an interview which was booked in on Thursday, nor that you don't have a reception area in your office.

I just smiled and said 'better early than late, I reckon'.

Seriously, what time would you arrive for an interview?

Me too, I will wait outside and go in 10-15 minutes before hand.

However most places I've been have had a reception.

You can never be too early but if your late your stuffed.

10 mins early is appropriate though in my experience.

I might add, over the last 4 years I've interviewed about 300-350 people and I'd never dream of giving them a hard time for being 10 minutes early. The ones that appear 45 minutes early can fking wait but 10 is standard imho.

Once had a interview candidate turn up a day early because our HR department made a bit of a faux pas...

Generally being early is a lot better than being late...but if it's not raining/windy/cold, why not just wait outside and go in on time?

10 mins early is standard practice imo. I arrived 10mins early to an interview yesterday, pity it was their old office that they'd left over 2 years ago and the current one was 10miles away!

they found it amusing (i am expecting a job offer) but in future I'll be double checking any address given to me by an agency.

10-20 mins early to show you are keen. I've been over an hour early before now then had to just potter about until 20 mins before to head in.

he he he, that crossed my mind,but yes,I had the right day, the agency rep called me as I was parking up to make sure I'd got there ok.

He won't be my line manager. I am never late.

10 minutes early can cause as much inconvenience as 10 minutes late.

I arrive 15 minutes early usually, if I have been earlier than that I tend to wait somewhere then arrive 15 mins early.
