Interview dress code
Discussion
No, not what to wear, but much odder.
How would you react if an employer openly suggested what to wear at interview?
The basics are that although the job is back room and doesn't require you to dress in a particular way, the employer thinks interviewers are tending to be swayed towards selecting people they like the look of rather than the most able. So they are suggesting everyone comes dressed 'business casual' to avoid the old school shirt and tie brigade choosing people like them.
The employers are being quite open with interviewees that this is to avoid unfairness as the job doesn't require you to be suited and booted at that junior level and that by asking everyone to dress in a similar way they are emphasising that it isn't about how you look or how good the suit is.

If you are a girl I foresee crotchless nickers and a peephole bra securing the gig. If you are male I would not bother
Unless the interviewers are females whose husbands have recently left with a hooker?

What a s
t idea. Sounds like a council or government job idea, "some people are not as good as others so lets bring everyone down to the same lower level"Peoples definition of Business casual will differ so that's a problem to start with. For anything office based you wear a suit and tie, personally I think that's more even than everyone wearing what they like as it then becomes a fashion parade.

Let me get this right.
Employer, is telling you to come in buisness casual, as they dont want the interviewer (tie brigade) employing someone who looks like them.
Simple really isnt it, get a suit and tie and as all the others will be in casual shirts, jobs yours
Or they deselect you for failing to follow the simplest of requests.Employer, is telling you to come in buisness casual, as they dont want the interviewer (tie brigade) employing someone who looks like them.

I'm sure the interview would go smoothly right after that.

I wouldn't wear a suit, but I'd still wear smart, pressed trousers, proper polished shoes and a long sleeved shirt and tie.
Go to the place of work a day or two prior to the interview (not a Friday as it may be dress-down Friday and this may wrong-foot you).
See what the moajority of workers are wearing.
Wear same attire to interview, and explain your choice of attire.
Bonus points for initiative.
Probably.
Or wear a suit & tie as has been suggested.
