Employed by foreign company
Discussion
I have been shortlisted for a position by a US company looking to move into the European market. Will be thrashing out the detail during the week but I will be their first employee in the UK.
Any ideas on how to protect myself from a contractual point of view? My concern is if things dont go to plan on their end and they bail out they could potentially leave me hanging or unpaid. Its difficult to do due diligence on them as they are relatively small operation.
Any tips from people who've been in a similar situation?

I used to work for a company that made a product in the UK under a license from a US company, the US company had two employess in UK/Europe to help technically and with sales, operated for the Emplyees house and paid him a retainer for that, so no assets in the UK,the product didn't take and the US company pulled out, both the employees of the US compnay were left high and dry, but they were employed in the USA, and although Britsh signed the contract in the US,
As you work in the UK the Uk courts will take an interest, but how do you force the judjement? If you have any doubts pull don't run up your exposure cut and run if your expenses or pay are not paid on time.
