I have just been made redundant...help
Discussion
I graduated in May 2009 with an Engineering degree and was lucky enough to get a job about 2 months after graduating. It was in the property sector so no connections to my degree, but the most important thing was to get a job and pay the rent etc etc...
I have however been made redundant yesterday as the company I work for are losing a lot of money per month and are cutting down on ¾ of staff. I am looking to get some advice on my rights. This is my first 'proper' job since leaving uni so I haven't encountered this before, any advice would be appreciated.
I have been given one weeks’ notice - so my last day is this coming Friday.
I am always paid on the last Friday of the month, so I would normally be expecting pay day to be 29th October 2010 - Would I be right to expect my full pay for this month on this date?
I have not taken all my holiday entitlement this year - I have taken 6 out of a possible 28 days - am I entitled to any holiday pay?
My salary is pro-rata - would this mean that I am entitled to a weeks’ pay in addition?
Thank you for your help I can provide more details if this isn't clear enough

Your final pay will depend on when you first got paid (after starting) but would expect you will be paid a proportion of the month you have worked to your last day.
I suspect your holiday entitlement will also be proportional to the number of full months worked since the holiday year started. So you may not get 28 days but 9/12 x 28 days i.e 21, if your leave year started in January, leaving you with 15 days.
It's a bit naff but maybe they have fixed things so that you don't finish a complete month so that they don't have to give you a few more days annual leave etc.
Either way I hope you get something sorted soon. Just out of interest what kind of engineering degree do you have?
