Been asked to interview someone in 10 minutes time.

I've done this hundreds of times, but I could do with some fresh questions that are non job related.
So, I throw (with some hestitation) it open to the Lounge...

What are the best questions you've been asked in an interview?
What question do you wish you'd asked the last person you hired but didn't (can see this going badly already...)

Ok - you have 10 minutes. If any of the questions are good enough to ask and do not force me to resign this afternoon, I'll provide feedback..

Make sure you get in the old classic "What's your biggest weakness?" to which the only correct response is to reply "I can't stand working for vacuous morons who trot out pathetic interview questions" and then walk out.

Not non-job-related, but I like to ask people "if I phone one of your clients, what will they say about you?"

'See that bag there?'

'Yes'

'Have a look'

  • rummages*, pulls out a bit of string.
'Sell it to me, be as imaginative as possible'

Oh, sorry, you said best question...

"What's the worst question that you've ever been asked in an interview?"

Then ask that question.

Just as he's leaving say "Oh, and one last question. Have you ever seen a man eat his own face?" and then look deadly serious.

In the news recently, NASA are planning to send 4 people on a one way mission to Mars. If you had the opportunity to go, would you? Why?

Which 3 people would you take with you if you could choose?

"I'd say my biggest weakness is that I sometimes work too hard. Oh, and I'm a habitual liar."

If you could have dinner with 3 other people, living or passed, who would they be and why?

There is a lake that is a perfectly smooth bowl.
You are in a boat on this lake, and in the boat with you is a metal weight.
An assistant marks the water level of the lake. You then chuck the weight overboard.
When the ripples have settled, has the water level of the lake gone up, gone down or remained the same?
And why?

I was once asked "what turns you on?"

Admittedly, it was following up the previous question of "what turns you off about working in a large company?"

I still had trouble keeping a straight face, though.

Out of interest, what is the answer.

I'm voting for stays the same.

Not the best question, but my ex (a german woman) was asked the following when applying for part-time work with GAP (I know, that was her first mistake laugh )

Her English was very good, and when asked the question "What animal are you?" was a little confused thinking "What does this have to do with the interview?"

The others responded with "I'm a tiger, I look cute but I have claws" "I'm a cat, I am cute and like to sleep"...... the Frauleines response?

"fk zis st, iz zis a fking joke you stupid assholes? I thought zis vass an interview for a job, not a fking kindergarten!"

And then she walked out rofl Never had a response or feedback though, not sure why....

Does light travel faster if it's pointed in the same direction as the earth's rotation nuts
