Working from home for a retiree
Discussion
My Dad has been retired a number of years now (he's 64) and he's looking to earn a bit of pocket money, mainly just to stem boredom during the Winter months. He has an allotment but obviously that doesn't need tending much during Winter.
Are there any part time jobs (hour or two per day) that you can work from home for? His background is in Engineering (coal) and he is quite technical/mathematical, if that helps?

From what you've written and the fact that paid jobs are best when it's something that we have an interest in:
Private tutoring (or online tutoring, if he has an internet connection) related to his skills/experience
Writing a blog on allotments and selling the advertising space
or similar...
There are also "Non-Compliance Assistant" roles for the Census advertised at the moment doing 3-4 hours a day going round to homes that have failed to complete the Census questionnaire.
