Can anyone advise on the following?

For full time and part time staff they get pro rata holidays for the days they work.

The part timers (some work Monday and Tuesday others Wednesday and Thursday) get the same holidays as each other however the one that works on Mondays has to take bank holidays as part of their holiday entitlement which to me (as most bank holidays are a Monday) seems unfair.

What are peoples policies regarding this? Is there a standard formula to follow?

Each worker is entitled to 11.2 days holiday (Based on working two days a week.)

The one that works Mondays I would let them take 3.2 of them as holiday and the other 4.8 days as unpaid, which still gives them 8 days (4 weeks) to take when they like.

Depends on how the holiday allowance is worded in the contract as to whether they need to take the extra bank holiday (April 29th) unpaid or paid.

If contract states bank holidays by name, Christmas Day etc, they will not be entitled to the extra day.

If contract states 5.6 weeks, they are not entitled to the extra day.

If contract states 4 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays, then they are entitled to the extra day being paid. In the case of part timers as above it would equate to 2/5 of daily pay.

Hope that makes sense. smile

Although taken AGES to get my head around this situation, (not sure why now!) I now understand!

Thanks for your advice.
