Evening all. A question came up today whilst talking about recruitment.

The question was if you have no contract with a company and decide to leave, could you leave immediately? There is obviously a courtesy consideration to avoid burning bridges, but what would you do?

Statutory minimum notice to be given by an employee is 1 week if employed for 1 month.

So that's 1 weeks notice then even if they've been there for years?

The key part is 1 weeks notice per year of service, up to a maximum of 12 weeks. There are various caveats so see small print above for details.

The 12 weeks refers to the notice and employer must give an employee

I'm guilty of brain fade. I read the response from the employer perspective!
Looks like a good reason to have a contract if you're an employer!
