I work in an industry which has traditionally had suppliers of software systems write custom interfaces to each other's systems. Obviously this takes time to specify & debug but we usually get there in the end. One problem is that it makes it difficult to change any of the components without fairly major disruption.

Some of our clients are now looking at middleware/integration platforms to sit in between the various elements to buffer them off from each other so any single part can,in theory, be replaced with a new element.

The trouble is, this is a new area for our industry. Can anyone suggest where we might start looking for a suitable person or company?

Buzzwords include: Biztalk, Spring, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Camel.

I would be happy to have a look around the job boards if you like? I own an IT recruitment agency.

Just drop me a PM if you're interested!

What are the applications programmed in (e.g. .NET JAVA, C#)and what do they run on (Window, Linux, Apple OSX). what environment/industry?

Need to understand makeup of the industry, scale etc?

A company to assist you with the overall architecture is probably what you need rather than a person, but also someone to keep the company honest peer review the proposal

Feel free to PM me with the details if you would not want to post them here (public forum)
