Who would you employ out of these two?

-A graduate with a degree in your field but no experience
-A manager with 8 years in another field in sales/production/account management and an MBA?

So neither of them have any relevant experience?

Helps if you say the job that is being recruited for...

I would employ either if it was for the job of cleaner at the banking/finance institution, but would continue to look if it was for middle management.

I run a largish team (25) of derivative product controllers for one of the big four. Rightly or wrongly I wouldn't entertain even interviewing someone who had experience in sales/production/account management and had an MBA. I do recruit graduates without any experience and I do recruit qualified accountants with no direct experience, providing that they can survive one of my technical interviews.

I have two recruitment agents that I work closely with and I suppose if one of them said to me that there's this guy and he's really good then I'd speak to them. But only if it came from one of my trusted agents.

Thought as much, thanks for the answer.

No problem. Having said that we do seem to have plenty of (what I would call) non-jobs in the bank so crossing over from another industry might not be so difficult.
