Hi,

On the odd occasion i have been getting some friction noise from the rear end at low speeds usually when turning.

I have done a few quick search's on the web this morning and I think the first thing to do is change the rear diff oil then go from there...

I have not checked the last time this was done yet but I have had the car 4 year and not changed it.

Anyway question is, are these the correct products to use on a E46 M3?

Castrol Syntrax Limited Slip 75W 140 (Formerly SAF-XJ 75w-140)
RED LINE Limited-Slip Differential Friction Modifier / Break-in Additive - 0.118L

You want to use Castrol + FM booster if you want to reduce low speed 'chatter'.

You need 3 X 83 22 2 282 583 (of which you'll use 2 and a bit) from your local BMW dealer, this is a ready mix of Castrol saf-xj, or whatever its called now, and the correct quantity of friction modifier.

ETA;

The scheduled change interval for this oil is every Inspection II service.
