E60 M5 Servicing suggestions in Central Scotland
Discussion
Prospective buyer and been following all the threads but looking to investigate where's recommended for servicing an E60 M5 in Central Scotland?
Don't mind a wee bit of travelling to ensure I get somewhere with a good rep and who are sensible/honest when dealing with. When I find a car, I'd be looking for Mondial Warranty so Dealer Servicing for primary services but maybe an Indy for anything non Warranty / Consumables.
There is a dealer near me in Stirling (Menzies) but not sure of their M-tech reputation?
Mondie, I know you're in the North East so probably a bit too far but interested in you opinions

Hi Steve,
I have just used the local BMW dealership and found them to be excellent. Mine is under the AUC warranty so I haven't looked to hard but before buying did do some basic searching and found not much at all in Aberdeenshire. Make sure you drop me a mail before you buy a car as I am considering buy an F10 and may put ours on the market in a few months.
Cheers
Simon

Thanks lads!
Perth is doable. The local dealer for me is Menzies in Stirling but with so few on these forums even in Scotland, it's hard to know where has a good rep in advance (and better to know 'before' you have a need to use them). Just cos a dealer is good generally, doesn't mean they are on M's or have the skills specifically for the E60 M5. Be great to get positive info in the way Eddie rates Soutthalls, I think it was, down south.
Not great if you have to travel far simply to drop off for servicing but better that than use a poor local Dealer.
Used to have to travel a fair bit to get my TVRs serviced and it was always a pain organising time and lifts to do it.

Yeah, I'd prefer an AUC car by choice. Depends on price and availability but would use Mondial warranty once required.
Have spent the last year researching these forums with some great info from Eddie and everyone else too, saved and nearly ready to start looking properly.
Got a very specific spec in mind and happy to wait to find the right one. Lot of money (but a lot of car for it obviously) so might as well get exactly what I want, if poss.
I'd be looking for an LCi facelift ('57 plate on), low'ish mileage and the main important options, Full Leather and Individual HiFi (and earmarked a few others as preference). These two make it quite rare but have seen them come and go!

Steve,
That is a pretty specific spec, dont know how long you will have to wait or pay. Mine has some of your wants - late 07 facelift, low mileage, no accidents, FSH, Logic 7 audio but not full leather. Has a few other good options including the M6 19's which are a must for these cars to look their toughest.
Good luck on the hunt!

Not sure of your exact location, but most enthusiasts I know up here in Aberdeen go to grassicks in Perth, they don't go near the local dealer here.
I have found them fine but if there are a few that go south then obviously a few have had issues in the past. So far no complaints from me and they collect and drop back the car from work which saves me a lot of mucking around.Grant Hay said:
I bought my E60 M5 from Eastern M power in Edinburgh, Great to deal with and have their own M specific Tech guys.
They just replaced a clutch and flywheel on my car under the auc warranty with no arguments etc.
Highly recommended.
That's a good heads up Grant, thanks mate. They just replaced a clutch and flywheel on my car under the auc warranty with no arguments etc.

Clearly, a knowledgable and understanding Dealer for the Clutch and possibly warranty covered failure that Eddie did so much work and coverage on is a big concern for a prospective owner.
Thanks for that mate.
