E46 M3 engine squeak

Hi all
On my way home I got a loud squeak front the engine bay it would come and go bit loud then a bit quiet , I thought it might be a belt that needs some wd40 so sprayed loads on where I could see, but its still there, also it's coming from higher up in the middle of the engine, I dumb struck, the Maf has been playing up as well , could it be related? Or what could it be? Thanks
