I have my new M3 2 weeks and am loving it. My service indicator came on this evening. I have only done 700 miles. The guy at the dealer said it wouldnt need the running in service til around 1200. Is this normal?

Cool. Yeah, can't wait to have the service done. The sound at 5000rpm is cool. Cant wait to hear it at 9000 smile

Unless they've raised the limiter recently you'll be disappointed by the sound at 9000rpm as the throttle will be closed wink

Redline is set at 8300 rpm. Does sound great from 6000 onwards!

Got mine back in April - in a week I'd got the mileage up (on purpose) to get it in for it's running in service. Sycamore BMW in P'Boro came and picked it up and returned it the same day and everything.

Honestly - you won't be prepared for the difference in the car. Even now that I've got about 3500 miles on it am I used to the power. It's just awesome. 5k rpm +; especially around 7k+ is just awesome.

And the noise... now the only thing is to change the exhaust wink

Im with you on the 7k + kick. Was great, just would prefer a bit more grunt lower down the rev range.

Cost me around £300-£400 IIRC (going back nearly 4 years).

I think they offered a complimentary 1200 mile service with the E46 M3 but not on the E92.

E92. Would have paid 145, but it was included in the £1000 50k service pack.

The E46 was the last M3 I owned back in 2001 and the initial 1200 mile oil change was complimentary, just assumed this one would be the same
