M5 Transmission warning on dash???

Ive just driven my friends 06 plated M5 and noticed the SMG gears were harsh when changing..then i saw on the dash a triangle.... is there a trans fault here????

M5 will give you the warning on the idrive and the DIS.

triangle means the traction control was disabled... it was also probably in S6 (only availble when traction control is disabled) which is very aggressive gearchanges basically crashes through the box as fast as it can.

I drive in S5 all the time!

The yellow triangle just means DSC (traction/stability control) is completely turned off. A red cog would indicate a transmission fault and the iDrive will also show a more detailed message.
