E92 M3 Convertible handling
Discussion
Just wondering if any guys on here have a convertible with the Compertition Pack? With the convertible being 200-odd kg's heavier than the coupe, the sharpness and handling is somewhat compromised. Just wondering if the convertible, with the comp pack being lowered by 10mm, and then on the stiffest EDC setting, would this bring it closer to the coupe in terms of feel and overall grip and handling. I drove a convertible recently and was put off by the extra weight and how this affected the overall drive experience....the weight was really noticeable.
I have a E92 & my bro in law has the E93 Conv & tbh when I went out in his he was throwing it around & I was genuinely impressed by it & when I drove it I struggled to tell any real difference, but I accept on paper 200kgs is vast in an already heavy car.
My motto is Coupes are for driving & convertibles are for posing but the engine sounds loads better with the top down & that is a great positive.

Even with no comp pack, then I guess with the EDC option, and on it's stiffest setting it would give some idea how it compares with the coupe.
Still really undecided if I want to go down the conv route from my E92 coupe and lose the cf roof too as well as the downfalls of the extra weight....but the pull of the last available slots and at 0% apr, keeps me wondering. Less than 2 weeks to decide and place an order.

I had an e93 convertible first and thought it was amazing for a drop top. Fast and great handling. DCT car. I then got an e90 saloon and it was in a different league. Much taughter, quicker, handles better, definitely felt a lot lighter.. There really is a big difference and I would imagine the coupe wil be the same. M3 convertible is a great car and the noise is immense with the top down but the hard tops have it beat as a sports car by quite some margin IMHO .

With respect, I'm not sure I understand how / why setting the suspension really hard would make the drop-top more like the coupe - it won't improve its nimbleness, tautness, grip, etc - it'll just make it more uncomfortable and skittish, surely?Still really undecided if I want to go down the conv route from my E92 coupe and lose the cf roof too as well as the downfalls of the extra weight....but the pull of the last available slots and at 0% apr, keeps me wondering.
