So, i'm in the process of looking to buy one of these and they either seem over priced or are scruffy. Added to this there are very few around- Where are they all?

I viewed one last night, drive for 2 hours to see it and the guy described it as mint, never painted and full history etc but when i got there it was obvious it ha been painted and had a second hand engine fitted. I walked away as the second hand engine may have missed it running in service and i don't know how many miles it had done or when it was serviced so figured i'd spend more and find a good one. If anyone is looking avoid the blue one down near Brighton!

I've now looked at several and can't find the right one. As a result i'm considering a C6 RS6 but i've always been a rear drive fan-has anyone had an M5 and one of these-how do they compare.

Ps if anyone is selling an E61 M5 please let me know!

Be careful with C6 RS6, I had one, bought a good un, fantastic cars, BUT expensive to run. It's not that bits are hughly expensive, it's just there's a lot of tech in an old design car, repairing takes a long time. When you drive them all the time you also get to feel that the auto box is barly able to contain the hugh torque that the engine produces. It's like a small controlled explosion every time you put your foot down, the later V10 drivetrain is much more able to deliver the power. I kept mine about a year, loved it but then got out of it before the bills started to get too big, averaging 16mpg is never any fun either! LOL.

Yes, it's the V10 RS6 i'm also looking at as the previous V8 ones have lots of problems.
I'd prefer a V10 m5 Touring but trying to find one is hard work!

It's blasphemy on this section of the forum but an E61 M5 wouldn't see which way a V10 RS6 went if the roads got a little damp and tricky. Also, while heavier, their AWD capabilities mean you can use them all the time. If it snows, you can't say that about an M5.

My old one is for sale at what I would consider to be an optomistic price! Its the Hartge upgraded one on autotrader.

The mileage given isnt correct, its 61k and the spec isnt right either! But I can vouch for the car...new clutch just fitted
