Just noticed this over the last couple of days. It doesn't do it every time, but sometimes when I pull away from a stop there's a loud clunk (and jerk) from the rear of the car, as if something's stuck and has worked itself free.

I don't yet know how to replicate it, but does anyone have any ideas what this might be?

Possibly your diff bushes or transmission bushes. Have a check of your exhaust hangers too.

Yeah, I shall be! wink

I'm of two minds at the moment whether to take out the Mondial warranty at this stage, or simply make do with the 5 Star warranty supplied with the car (12 months) and get it checked out under that.

Well you have mileage on your side being under 60k so the mondial will be at its cheapest until 60k. I wouldn't go with the warranty route yet, take it back to the dealer as it's only a week old and let them make it right!

Yeah, I've e-mailed the dealer already. Will see what they say.

Complete stop. First couple of times it happened after putting the handbrake on so I thought something wasn't disengaging properly, but then it happened last night without putting the handbrake on first.

Don't mean to worry you but mine had clunking just before my gearbox packed in.

It was hall sensor and regulator block on mine (labour and parts well in excess of £4k. I had a new clutch put in whilst the box was out as it made perfect sense.

Ouch. Was that all covered under warranty? (except the clutch, presumably?)

Out of interest, are you using the footbrake at all before pulling away, ie when at a stop? The car will pull away much more smoothly if you dab the brake pedal before pulling away. What it does is, it gets the release bearing and clutch into position ready for take off. If you dont apply the brake then the car tries to catch up with itself and the release bearing and clutch will bang into place rather than come together smoothly. Give it a whirl.
