Braemar trip may have resolved itchy feet.

Yo!
I guess some of you noticed my topic last week, about possibly changing to a GT86, M135 or E90, anyway the jist of it, is below.
Depreciation... its a real b
h!
I was considering a change to the M135i, E90 M3 or GT86, and while in for reparied at my local garage they had an M135i I was offered what I think was a VERY good deal on on. 34k car. Pre registred, 5k down (E46) and 36 months @ 275 PCP deal. Which suddenly got me thinking A LOT harder.
I tried it, and I liked it.
So i also tried a GT86, which i thought was an awesome car, hard to explain, but feels very RIGHT. not that quick, but its not what the car is about.
The car was going to be on PCP, around the 275 a month mark..... seemed like a good deal, and a good idea. I have basically spent 12-13k through repairs, depreciation, servicing on the E46, whereas i could have a brand new car for 14-15k through the PCP deal, and the miles i do, it would require minor servicing. i.e oil.
So looking at finances, it looked a good way to go.
Anyway....
Decided to think about it, i called to see if the M135 was available still....it was. and i was a baw hair away from telling the bloke deal. I kept my cool, and held off for another few days.
So yesterday, i decided to take the car for a good drive and see what i thought... do i stick, or twist.
took the car from Fife, through Perth and up to Braemar, through the mountains. What a road, what a drive.

What a trip. I loved every second of it!
im not so sure i would have had as much fun, i wouldnt have been able to overtake as many cars in the GT86, and i dont think the M135 would have held on as well as the E46.
So im back to loving the car! big time!
Im not so sure i could part with it now, i dont think the E90 is 20k better than the E46................ for those roads and for the fun i usually have in the car, i think the perfect car is the M135i engine, in a Gt86 body.............. which is more or less the E46 M3. Do i need to spend the extra 25k, i dont think so!
On the way back, i found the clutch may be on its way, it was draggin between gears, but after that drive, i dont think i care, ill replace it, it will need a major service next year, a little tidy up here and there for general body work stuff. But in general its still a good car, and those bits and pieces are costly but im not sure i care anymore!
A parting picture.

I have to say, i dont think there is a better car for the money.
I just got a call from Toyota 2 mins ago, agreeing to match the BMW price and payments for a GT86, they were previously £100 per month different.... Now thats a big chunk!!!
I seem to think it may be in vein!
So for now, there will be no change, but this may change if something breaks again........ there is something attractive about a car under warranty though!!

It's a great car.
I've had mine 2 years now, bought it as an AUC with low mileage to be my sole car. Considered letting it go for something truly bonkers ala GTR, 911 turbo but I figured I would either A. lose my license B. end up upside down in a ditch so instead I bought a 550i to be my daily hack while the M3 was used for "fun". This worked as it's stayed relatively low mileage and fits my needs for what an occasional car needs to be. Due to the unforeseen summer, a Z4 has also been added to the stable and the E46 M3 still remains the cherry on the cake.
I do agree regarding the warranty, I've put mine on a rolling monthly BMW warranty and even though it's a low mileage one owner 05 car; it's had plenty of warranty work carried out.
To keep things feeling fresh, I'm planning a few tasteful performance modifications (AP brakes, KW coilovers and a full SMG, suspension and steering refresh). I don't ever plan to sell mine so not really worried about resale value.
