Google e61 sunroof drains.

There is a very good pictorial guide out there somewhere.

To check if they're ok, pour water on the roof - then mop it up if it appears inside the car.

There's some info on page 12 of Eddie's E60/E61 Buyers Guide. I've just done this over the weekend, the NSR drain pipe was quite tricky to access, OSR no problem.
