What's going on here then?

My beautiful CS steering wheel seems to have had a fit in this hot weather! Well I'm guessing the recent spell of hot weather has something to do with it... The car's only done 40k miles and wouldn't have expected this from a BMW...Anyway has anyone seen this before? Any thoughts on what can be done to repair it? BMW want £180 for a replacement cover which seems a bit on the high side!!!

Hi Rassi, it's both. The nick appeared when I saw a bit of dirt and tried to scratch it off with my finger nail - mistake number 1. The scuff appeared last night when I tried to "clean" the wheel with a damp cloth - mistake number 2.
I'm a chap who's not into hand cream or moisturisers so am unsure what's happened!
Do you know if it's possible to get them resprayed/re-rubberised?

Short of replacing the cover, you can peel off the remaining "rubberised" plastic.

That doesn't look good at all. But fear not, all is not lost, I had my M3 wheel re trimmed in the e92 M3 leather by this chap : http://royalsteeringwheels.com/ . Well to be honest it was an exchange item like - for - like but he can do a service that wil be a while - you - wait jobbie.
Excillant service and the quality of the product is fantastic - I'd even say better than OEM. Was reasonably priced too @£120 including fitting so works out much cheaper than the dealer option.
