I know, I know - order placed, only 58 days to go and I'm going to trawl the net constantly for any information I can get to keep me going - however, having had a drive of an M6 today I am now curious..

What are the optimum settings for the M1 & M2 buttons reflecting on the fact i won't be on track, but do enjoy an spirited drive?

Thanks

I have mine on a 3 x sport setting, with standard drive mode and normal HUD for M1. M2 is configured with sport on the steering and suspension, and sport plus for the engine. I have that using sequential gears with the M HUD.

Sorry, dumb moment - what's sequential gears using the HUD?

'HUD' = Heads Up Display. There are essentially 2 versions - the standard one tells you your speed and gives you sat nav instructions and the M one shows revs and optimal gearshift indication.

M1 for normal driving has HUD to sport, gear change in middle position and steering, throttle and suspension in softest setting.

M2 the same except throttle and suspension in middle setting.

I drive in either M1 or M2 80% of the time.

If I want auto or the satnav on HUD, I don't use M buttons, usually just put the gearbox into middle setting.

Rarely go harder than middle settings, but if I do, just change manually.

Set mine up last night.

M1 is set to attack mode so Sport Plus on all (Steering, Dampers & Throttle), S3 Manual for the transmission & M HUD. I also opted for MDM so traction control & stability control reduced but not off.
M2 is fast pursuit so Sport Plus on (Steering & Throttle), Sport for Dampers, D3 Auto for transmission & regular HUD. Left traction control on fully also.

I'll no doubt tinker with M2 over the coming weeks/months.

M1 settings super sport for throttle and dampers, steering set to sport. Traction control on.

M2 as above but with traction control fully off, this makes it so much easier for when I do use launch control wink

I work with three modes....

Start up mode....relaxed, comfy, great for round town....everything in comfort/efficient, D....occasionally knock it into S when I fancy using the paddles!

M1 is set up in sport all the way, S rather than D, DSC on

M2 is set up in sport plus all the way, S with MDM.

With reduced traction control, I have to confirm my choice by pressing the M2 button a second time (basically saying....yeah, yeah, I know I might kill myself!!)

You need to be really careful about turning DSC off, not really a good idea on public roads until you have a better feel for the car....treat it sensibly and with respect for its huge power/torque, it's no real problem, with huge levels of grip in reserve.

Have fun!

You seem to be pretty sure of yourself here so let me just reconfirm your original question/statement;

If you are saying that Traction Control has to be switched of in this mode, then my car is faulty as I can have TC on or off in Sport Plus.
Does everyone else's car have to have TC off in Sports Plus?

I thought you could fine tune each setting .. I know on my existing 535 I can do this.

You can play about with the settings to your hearts content, you just asked a particular question and I answered it, you then disagreed with my answer which I found a little strange since it was based on fact as opposed to 'thought'. Enjoy your car when you get it, if it wont let you run Sport Plus without turning off TC take it back.....
