Best Insurance Company for F10 M5
Discussion
Well it seems Tesco are out (see my post in the tracker thread)
Aged 50, full no claims, live in a good area, no convictions etc., 12,000 miles pa with a handful of business thrown in - probably a perfect client.
1st Central Insurance (never heard of them!) quoting £435 fully comp
Admiral £483
And a handful of other known companies all around the £500 mark.
I'm not looking for the cheapest, but a good reliable company that be with me if the s
t hits the fan.
Oh, they're all with no tracker.
Thoughts?

FWIW, I just insured myself (aged 35, no accidents or convictions in last 5 years, 15 years no claims, parked on driveway) on a 2008 M3 saloon for £280, including a 26 year old named female driver. That is with Admiral viaConfused.com, with protected no claims etc.
In comparison, my uncle's 535d GT costs him £1100, and he's over 60.
I reckon I got a bargain! :-)
Oh, and no tracker fitted. I tend to trust Admiral, and given the different values of your car and mine, I'd say your about spot on there.

As per the Tracker thread, go via a comparison site (i used compare the market), answer the questions correctly & the best deals appear.
I'm 43, max NCB, class 1 use with 15k miles, clean license, good area, garaged overnight, BMW Finance the legal owner & Tesco (via compare the market) came out well below £400 with the wife added for good measure. The deal from Tesco was £150 cheaper than the next best deal so i did check & double check but to my delight all was correct. It's perfectly possible that with the onset of many performance saloons all being put on the road in the last few months that Tesco have raised there price on M5's & even altered there underwriting criteria but all was good back in September when i took my policy out.

Not sure if my business miles are pushing Tesco out of the frame but I'm getting costs if £1100!
Can't recall what i put for business miles but it was defo more than private so i think it was 10k business & 5k personal. Either way it's full Class 1 business use on my policy. I'm thinking Tesco have now insured enough M5's so are balancing the risk by altering the underwriting criteria & upping the cost. Makes sense given how cheap they were a few weeks ago.M3greg said:

That's good......and bad....
Good quote
Long, long wait ahead!
When is the car due?
Initial estimate is Dec/Jan but we will see! Been 6 hours and can't take the wait anymore so good knows how I will cope! Good quote

Our e60 M5 was insured with Tescos for the meager sum of 260 odd quid per year. She is now sold and went to her new owner today. I hope I have done the right thing, not so sure at the moment. We are about 5 weeks from our new F10 on a contract hire so this discussion about Tecso insurance is very relevant to me
