E61 M5 replacement clutch and flywheel - warranty issues
Discussion
A friend of mine is looking at an E61 M5 which has the mondial extended warranty. It has had the clutch and flywheel replaced but it wasn't done by BMW and not with BMW stamped parts.
I don't think this is good but I said I'd ask the people that know! I would think it would invalidate the warranty?

It won't invalidate the warranty. It's just that those parts wouldn't be covered by BMWs warranty as I understand that parts fitted by BMW have a two year warranty. However, with it being a wear and tear item(s) I'd say having it covered might be a moot point anyway.
Similarly, you can have a full exhaust system on an M5 and still have it under Mondial warranty. It's just that the exhaust wont be covered if it fails.

As far as Im aware there are no pattern parts for these clutches so it will probably be OEM manufactured but not supplied and fitted by BMW. The warranty isnt likely to cover any replaced clutch components or other parts that have been damaged as a result, but as long as its been fitted properly it shouldnt really be a issue
