Hi,

I've had my E92 M3 for a few years now and have recently been contemplating it's replacement. I love the car but feel that it's time for a change.

The obvious choice seems to be an F10 M5 as it seems to tick a lot of box's in terms of what I currently need and will provide more space for the kids over the next few years.

Whilst I have a test drive lined up with the dealer in a weeks time I am interested in feedback from anyone who has also made this switch?

Cheers

Hi I made switch and do not regret it I am now on my second m5 f10 faster in straight line not as nimble in the corners but for me a better car 95% of the time. Plus the power of the m5 has surprised a lot more passengers than m3 ever did

Make the switch, I did and the M5 is all things in One.
Go for it.

These are my winter tyres fitted
20" DARE RF
255/35/20 front
275/35/20 rear.

Enjoy

I traded my E92 LE500 M3 for the F10 on Thursday. From order to delivery only took 2 months for the F10.

I’ve only covered about 90 miles since so waiting before I put out a full review, the main points for me are:

Better on fuel! Showing 26.5MPG
Stealthy - I had a white M3 with black wheels. Amazing looking but very in your face. The F10 is a monster in sheep’s clothing.
Not as raw as the M3, I always reverse my car into the garage, when old a cold start the neighbours would get pi**ed at 6am when i go to work. The M5 is a lot quieter on cold start and in general. It’s a more refined, powerful noise.
Its far more comfortable, the seats etc are
You can really feel the weight of the M5 through corners compared to the M3
The tech is a lot better in the M5

I will post a full review when I’ve put some miles on it.

Might be happening sooner than I thought. Just got back to train station car park this evening to find car has been stolen furious.

F@£%@d off is probably an understatement!

Car had all relevant security updates by BMW and no glass found on ground makes absolutely no sense.

Insurance company fun begins....

Its quite worrying the amount of M5's & M3's getting stolen. I've just bought an E60 M5 06 plate & BMW say its not affected but i think it is. What part of the country are you in ? Most seem to get stolen from London,Birmingham,Manchester etc all the big cities.

Hope you get paid what the cars worth and it works out well for you so you move onto the F10.

Simon.

They also advertise the F10 M5 remap on there website. Still not sure how advisable remapping the M5 would be as i've heard with the telematics on board that the car basically informs BMW as soon as anyone started decking around with the ECU's. This i assume would be an immediate warranty invalidationfrown

You can never have too much power though! Most cars as standard are suffocated so its nice to unleash them a little I think.

I know it's said 'too much horsepower is never enough', I just wonder where you could use a 6-700 BHP M5 on a daily basis?

True but I would just like to know I had that much power under my foot but agree I struggle to use all my paltry 414bhp without dangling my license out if the window so I am sure 560bhp is plenty to be going on with! I would love a M5 I love it's stealth appeal.

These new M5's are dynoed @ 620BHP out of the box, I don't need any more grunt TBH.
BMW Know as soon as the ECU's are touched now, the Car communicates direct to BMW as soon as parameters are altered. I have been told this by a guy @ BMW in Germany, so I would not want to risk it myself.
No one has cracked this ECU yet and that includes DMS.
