Booked my 1M in for a service today as it'll be 2 yrs old next month. Was told there's also recall warranty work to do. I think they said ignition coils. Anyone else had this done?

Not heard about that, but they were replaced under warranty on my old 135i.

Injectors and coils are recall on all N54 cars. Another item which in my opinion should also be (but is not) is the high pressure fuel pump however, BMW do acknowledge the issue and will replace under warranty BUT, only if the car throws a trouble code and generally not before unless your dealer/tech working on your car is savvy. So, that means weeks or months of long, spulttery starts, hunting and stalling potentially.

On the plus side, the HPFP used to come in at around £1000 (part only) but it is now around the £250 mark. Factor in labour of course but it can be DIY'd as it's just bolts and goes like...remove airbox, remove inlet manifold, remove HPFP and replace, no coding required smile.

Interesting trip to the dealers..... Firstly, car didn't need servicing, despite being requested by email and phone..... and the recall was actually for security update, not coil..... and my car didn't need it. So it was actually just a free car wash!!!!
