Car is an 09 E92 M3.

Last Sunday had a puncture, the red indicator came on so i stopped and tried to fix it - however the bits in the boot did not match the bits described in the book. Anyway turns out they have changed the kit parts and not updated the manual....

Got home and ordered tyres (yes the rest needed changing anyway), did not drive it until Friday - just to tyre place and back.

So this morning we set off and after about a mile and a bit the red light came on?

Stopped and checked and all was well, carried on journey and it happened twice more (not a long journey - maybe 30 miles total).

Any ideas what is going on?

Faulty sensor?

Thanks in advance.

Did you re-set the sensor after fitting the new tyres? If not then you need to do it. Use the left stalk on the steering column, use the little up/down button until you see a symbol consisting of a tyre cross-section with an exclamation mark, then press the re-set button on the end of the stalk until a little tick-box appears complete with "tick".

This is a pretty condensed version of the procedure from memory but you will find more detail in the hand-book.

Of course, if you have already re-set the sensor you may really have a puncture or a soft tyre!

thanks - however that is not quite correct. I tried this and there was no tyre related option. So I checked with my dealer and on my car it is done via the drive and the "confirm tyre pressure" option.

So I'm still no clearer why I got those messages, I have a decent trip tomorrow so will take care and see if it repeats.

Sorry, I should have said it can also be done by the i-drive which is the same thing. (I did say I was working from memory). Did you re-set it anyway?

It's really annoying that you have to manually reset this. I had a slow puncture and got that sorted out to find the warning still on. I had to YouTube how to reset which was a bit of a faff using the stalk. I don't know if this is your issue but as mentioned, it's a good place to start.
