Having recently sold my Nisan GTR, a friend of mine was selling his mint E60 M5......I didnt even think about buying it, until I hit a brick wall as what to get next...I was lloking to spend about £25k on an XFR, but I couldnt really get excited about the looks of the car, and I knew that depreniation of the Jag would be pretty savage...

So, I ended up buying the M5, and I must say Im liking it...a lot!

Sure, its pretty old hat now, and the SMG isnt the bext, but the car has a wonderful feel about it, and the nhandling and poise of the car just feel so right.......the GTR was just a playstatioon on wheels, and was insanely fast...the M5 is quick-ish, but not as manic as the GTR...

Anyway, hi to any other M5 owners out there!

Which are the bext M5 (UK based) to join?...M5 board seems to be US based, although I note that there are UK users on there...

Hi, I've only had my E60 M5 2 weeks, still getting to grips with it. Loving the V10 noise. I'm finding the SMG a bit jerky when the engines cold but ok once fully warm. Mines a 06 plate Silverstone.

James, I have been lucky enough to own a lot of nice cars....997, gtr, e92m3 etc etc and in all honest the m5 is the cheapest car I've had in years but I am delighted with it

It's just a unique car in so many ways that it really does delight

Yes the smg is a bit slow and clunky but I think I will master it pretty quickly

I will report back my findings!

Good stuff i think the fuel is a big factor and the general smg issues and running costs

Well mine is a 2nd car and only do about 2000 miles a year max. I'm pleased I bought it but for me personally I couldn't afford to use it everyday due to running costs & fuel. I certainly wouldn't buy one as my only car but then that's more of a financial thing, I'd soon get fed up spending a fortune on fuel. I agree that the M5 is much more suited to A & B road blasts and not nipping to the shops. Cost me £33 to do 68 miles town/stop start driving. Saying that its one hell of a car for the money.
That black one has been for sale for a few months, nice car but put me off it had clutch at 18k & then still driven in London after because it sounds from the advert that the current owner hasn't covered many miles which would mean its probably done at least another 20-30k on new clutch in London so will surely need another soon ?

I also went from a Nissan GTR to an 2007 facelift M5 (with a Focus RS in between) and wasnt disappointed. Top end Ive never experienced anything like it, and for long blasts nothing can touch it.
Im loving the M5 - however Ive also managed to do 6000 miles in it since July which was not the plan when I bought it!!! It looks like Im going to have to sell it for something uber sensible as my circumstances dont look like changing anytime soon......and then maybe getting a little weekend fun car.
If anyone is interested in a 57 plate Silverstone M5 with 45k miles let me know!

Hi all

Due to needing one car I am also selling my 57 plate M5. Only has just under 40k miles on the clock and is in fantastic condition. I even treated it to a £400 detailing job by one of the top guys in my area last month (gleammachine) so it's looking lovely. About to put it on SOR at a mates garage but I would be happy to do someone a cracking deal that would leave me no worse off.

Let me know if anyone has any interest

Cheers guys
