Only had the M5 since august and only recently driven at night for the first time and was shocked at how poor the headlights were! They did very little in lighting the road up ahead and found myself driving very cautiously on unfamiliar roads. They are the adaptive ones. Is this common or do I have faulty lights? Should I be going back to the dealer as I cant believe they got through an MOT??!!

I find mine to be excellent. Probably worth finding some level ground with a wall perhaps 50 ft away and see where the dipped beams "land" on the wall. They should not taper downwards very much if at all. Also worth checking that the levers to flatten the beams for continental use haven't been left in the wrong position - that cuts off the upward flare to the nearside.
