You know how one thing leads to another? Errrrrrrrrrrr.......

Well, I hope I've done the right thing!

I always wanted to scratch my V10 itch and was casually browsing on Thursday and before I knew it I put a deposit down.

Car has done 67,000 miles and has full BMW service history but never had clutch or flywheel changed. It is a little over priced in my opinion (aren't all AUC cars?) but they have told me they are fitting 3 new tyres, respraying front bumper, new brake discs and pads as well as doing a brake fluid change from what I can remember.

My only concern is that blasted clutch/flywheel issue and if they're going to get funny about replacing it thus rendering the (2 year negotiated) warranty worthless.

Priced at £22,850 but I really don't feel like I got a good deal on it (irrespective of the warranty negotiated) and should have haggled harder.

I am viewing the car tomorrow at Leicester and will finally make up my mind. Will it compare well to the C63 AMG? It certainly looks the part but I just hope I haven't done anything schoolboy-ish.

Here are a few pics of the car:

Wish me well for tomorrow guys!

I would have waited until I had seen it before deposit tbh

Thurs to sat... Would have risked it being snapped up by someone else I think

Hope it is a good one and that you enjoy it, smashing vehicle

You can always get your deposit back from a dealer.

I went to see a car, negotiated the deal and put a despot down on a car down and agreed to buy it.

Next day, I got a call from a dealer that had a car that I really wanted, but someone else had provisionally brought and said the sale had fallen through. I put another deposit down (so a deposit on two cars now) went to view it and sorted the deal and job done. Got the car I really wanted. Rung the first dealer up and said I couldn't go ahead with the sale and wanted my deposit back. They refunded in full without a problem!

Why only 3 new tyres? And get iPod cable + new nav disc included. My clutch went at 47K, 3K into my ownership and was replaced FOC under AUC warranty. Check how it is behaving in stop & start traffic, getting the clutch and release bearing hot. Any jerkiness means new clutch.

Good luck!

Looks like a nice car, and it sounds as if you are fully aware that these can be very expensive cars to run.

Have a look at it, and see what else you can squeeze into the deal face to face.

These are not easy cars for dealers to shift so i'm sure they will go a little further to secure the sale.

Car has had a full service now, new oil, filter, microfilters, 10 x spark plugs etc so will not need a service for good 6000 ish miles. So that is taken care of.

Price not moved but deal still agreed in principle only.

Car is still being prepped but I liked what I saw.

Will see what the week holds!

PS sounded AWESOME but still not as nice as the C63 AMG though which bellows thunder!

Hope you enjoy the new car. I wouldn't lose sleep over the clutch. If it fails it fails. New cars are not necessarily reliable anyway.

My OCD couldn't cope with only three new tyres, even if I had to pay for the fourth myself! smile

Insist on 4 good quality, matched tyres. Also looks like the alloys might need a refurb?

67k is brake disc replacement territory. Get thickness checked and assess accordingly. Fitment of pads and discs all round from main dealer is about 1500

Eta sorry just saw you gave that covered. Good!

Great impulse purchase. Never been sold on the looks, but bet it sounds lovely.

Didn't think clutches were ever covered under warranty at that mileage as they were considered wear and tear?

This is my biggest fear also.

Many things have been done aside from the clutch.

I will play it by ear and see how it goes ....i dont drive like a maniac so would expect leniency in their decision. I am paying top dollar and expect to be treated better than a mug

Don't you just hate it when people sell cars through their profile and haven't posted in months or even years? I always find this a bit odd to be honest!

Pity about the wheels colour change and the aftermarket exhaust as that poses issues withy the extended warranty the vehicle has; if the engine went pop the BMW could argue the exhaust was at fault - would be expensive and costly to prove otherwise!

You realise that you've just broken PH forum rules I take it. wink
