Can anyone help me decide...

If I order new, I wait 3 months but can have the right colours (grey, red leather) but I'd go mid spec on Nav and hifi.

However some rather good ones are coming up used approved. One is a blue, black leather, fully loaded (including sunroof!) one on a 62 plate with 6500 miles, the other is white, red leather slightly higher miles at 7500 but also very high spec and a 13 plate. Both are well under £27k and would have listed at around £37-38k, my own "mid spec" new build would be just over £30k, RRP is around £35k.

Do I go lightly used and high spec or new, wait a few months, ideal colour, mid spec but pay around £3.5k more?! Px prices are all similar; a bit pants but bearable. I'm not worried about having the latest plate or brand at all although it would be nice - I'd like to minimise costs (which would depreciate more?!). What's more important, high spec, the right colour, or newness?! We'd be keeping this for a long time if it turns out to be the right car.

The decision making is killing me!

This will be a cash buy so finance isn't relevant.

As stated on BabyBMW, you wont have to wait 3 months. Most orders are delivered within 5 weeks currently.

Cheers Deako; just casting the net over here too for a different perspective!
I think we should have a deposit down by the end of today. Still not certain which one it'll be though...!

Surely this is about the least desirable colours? I guess if you plan to keep it for years and years then its just down to your preference.

It is nice having a brand new car though so personally I would wait for a new one if it was my money for the sake of a grand or 2.

On a cash buy, why spend more than you have to. Minimise the depreciation and haggle hard on the blue one. Blue with black leather is surely a better longer-term option than white/red and the sunroof is jolly nice.

I ordered a "mid spec" grey one with red leather yesterday; build date TBA. Desposit down, will pay the balance in cash once it's been built. I got £6k off list which helps.

I know, I did draw it out a bit!
Luckily the 335d broke (slightly) so suddenly the excuse was there. A test drive, a day of non stop negotiations with several dealers and we went for it.

Now the painful wait; bought a few new cars but always from stock. Built to order is new for us!
