My fuel pump relay is black, P/N 61 35 7 892 976. Do older cars have a different relay or is the black one an updated part?

I didnt think any of the European cars had a black relay? I think the black one does different things. It could be that I have the wrong relay in the first place. I have constant voltage to the fuel pump and this when used with the green relay apparently shouldnt happen.

Mine is exactly like this one http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E39-M5-S62_5.0L/Engin....

It's the relay that's to the front of the car in the right side cubby hole in the boot.

Thats the one thats been delivered to me.

The one in my car is this one.

Cotswolds have both listed, but are unable to see bases on my VIN which one I should have.

It's in the place of the blue/green one that says Bosch on it, that's not a genuine part.

I'll go check my car in a min, I'm working from home today so have easy access to it.

This is what I have.

Interestingly, I swapped the top one around with the bottom one, turned on the ignition and the pump primed.

So as things stand. I swapped the 1st and 3rd relays around today. Up to now, the car has started 2 out of 2.

3 out of 3 attempts and it has started / pump has primed.
