Nope.

How many miles?

Had you been checking the oil level using the computer?

Are BMW fixing it?

Mine uses a fair puchel of oil like... My E46 M3 never used a single drop in 80k miles. My M135i has needed topped up twice in 8k !!!

Ah well, that's what warranties are for eh! Enjoy your free new turbo. :-)

Have you been warming the car up properly and letting it cool after a blast?

Is it definitely the turbo and not an ancillary part?

8K Miles. BMW are replacing all the turbo unit and its currently on its way from Germany. First problem of its kind in Europe apparently!

Oil was fine and I consider myself a fairly steady driver. Only blast it now and again!

There's only one turbo on an M135i Shim. The N55 engine has a single, twin-scroll turbocharger.

Seems the N55 engine isn't immune to problems. I took the M135i for a European trip a couple of weeks ago and the car failed just after I entered Switzerland. It's 3 months old (with 4k miles at the time) and the problem turned out to be a failed injector.

To be fair, they're just machines so components will fail. This is as much a story of how good BMW were in handling an awkward situation - I was on day one of a week-long road trip and they sorted out a decent rental car whilst mine was with the Swiss dealer. When it was fixed, I was in Vienna with my next destination Munich....meaning going back to Switzerland was a full-day detour for me. After a little pushing by my local dealer, BMW paid to have the car delivered to Munich and the Swiss rental car returned. Things can and do go wrong; how BMW handled it in this instance was outstanding.

I wouldn't make a decision on whether to buy a car or not on the basis of this.....they're just mere machines and some will go wrong. I posted my story as an example of how well the manufacturer, in this case, not only sorted the issue but kept my inconvenience to a minimum. I'm very fickle when it comes to cars and have little brand loyalty but this 'problem' actually endeared me more to BMW!

Really good to hear that your situation was dealt with well & I agree with cars it doesn't matter what manufacturer you go with things can go wrong.
