Hi Everyone,

New memeber here, although have been lurking for a number of months.

I am about to pull the trigger and get an AUC e90 M3 In Jerez Black with black leather and a pretty decent spec (DCT, EDC, H/K Stereo, Enhanced bluetooth, Heated seats, sun roof and a few other bits)

I wondering if a) anyone knew anything about this particular car, reg YH11 NPD and b) what should I be looking at when test driving this beauty, local dealer sourcing in for me)

Thanks everyone in advance.

They can feel a little ordinary at low revs so I recommend you experience the M button with everything set to max as it makes the car feel far more alive, the dampers set to comfort gives a lovely ride but in sport the ride can be pretty harsh on uneven roads so good to experience both set ups.

Above 6k revs they are awesome & the chassis is a peach, enjoy the test drive.

Check the windscreen seals as these can deteriorate and create harsh wind noise at speed. Also listen for rattling in the central pillar behind the seat belt mounting point - mine has just developed an annoying rattle in this location.

Other than that check it has enough fuel in it for a proper test drive - you won't get far on 1/4 of a tank!!!

I've had mine E92 for 2 weeks. Should have started a thread really but it doesn't have a PH facility & I've spent most my time in it!

Mine is an AUC & similar age/spec to the one you are looking at.

I would re-emphasize what has already been said. When I had the test drive it had less than 1/4 a tank of fuel so couldn't go far. Also had 3 other people in it. I tried as many of the settings as I could on the short drive (M mode, EDC settings etc) & was pretty pleased after the test drive, even though I did drive like a bit of a pussy. I think ideally it would be better to have a longer drive, alone if possible....but I bought mine anyway!

All I can say is I'm loving the car more & more every time I drive it, 100% happy.

I noticed a groan/whine from the diff at slow turning speed (a common complaint) so took it back to the dealer & they replaced the diff oil plus an additive that should stop the noise, it hasn't done it since so no complaints with the AUC warranty so far.

You will soon be on first name terms with the staff at the petrol station but it's worth it!

Good luck! Cheers, Ben.

I had an E90 M3 for about three years - if it wasn't for the fact my youngest was approaching 6ft, I may have kept the car.

I doubt you will really appreciate the car on a simple test drive - it can feel a little underwhelming at first. Low down torque is not a strong point although it is still pretty quick even if you don't push the needle past 5,000 revs.

But when you learn the car and feel comfortable to really push it, you realise what a great engine it is and that the car has a great balance. Over the time I had the car, my 911 got used less and less - a real complement to the M3.
