High mileage AUC E60 M5 worth a go?

I have a cash budget of £24k for a facelift AUC BMW M5 with less than 60,000 miles, pickings are few and far between to be honest but I’m happy to wait for the right car.
That is until I recently saw a BMW dealer selling an 80,000 mile example for less than £15k, it’s now sold but it’s got me wondering if I could get a similar one with a 2 year warranty included or a new clutch then surely that’s a bargain?
I’ll always buy on a cars condition rather than because its costs x or has y mileage, and yes a nice low mileage example would be nice but I’m starting to warm to the idea of a cheaper example? It would leave £9k in the kitty for petrol, which should last a couple of months at least
If you are a believer in the bathroom theory then at 9 years old maybe all the expensive bits will drop off, be replaced under warranty and then allow for a few years happy motoring once after the warranty has expired…
Failing that if its back to plan A, do I need to make sure the car has less than 60,000 miles when the AUC warranty runs out in order to not get shafted when I sign up to the monthly scheme? I see it’s gone from £80 a month to £150 anyway!

My AUC warranty ran out in February so i renewed with the Mondial warranty at 52,000 miles on my E60 M5,cost me £102 a month for the most comprehensive package going.
If you buy one with the AUC warranty then you need to renew it with Mondial with over 60k on the clock yes it will be roughly twice the cost to renew warranty compared with a car with under 60k.

If something like that comes up again you should ring up and put a deposit down right away. A £15k AUC with 2 years warranty is an absolute bargain.If the clutch release bearing has been changed then the clutch is likely to last much further because that's what was causing the clutch wear.

If I bought a sub 60k mile example I would be limited on the mileage for the first 2 years until the warranty expired and I joined the monthly scheme (while under 60k), after that I could put the miles on without worry.

Probably not but might be worth some money if broken for parts. I imagine things like door mirrors, calipers, bumpers, exhausts, funky front seats, steering wheel etc might be worth a bob or two.M5, 100k miles, no warranty...
Of course you will sell it! Even if it halves in value over the next couple of years it would still be a cheap way of getting 507bhp, 204mph and a V10!!
There will always be demand for these cars. Unfortunately, the internet has everyone believe that you should not buy one of these cars without a warranty when in fact, they are pretty robust machines if you get a well looked after one.

Thankyou internet, by the way, for an early 996 911 that I had absolutely trouble free the other year for less than the price of a Vauxhall Corsa VXR

I keep an eye on auto trader and M5 stock shifts just as quick as any other car as far as I can tell.
Just because the warranty expires doesn’t mean the cars going to simultaneously explode. Other than engine, gearbox and I-drive etc. I really don’t think the big bills are all that…I’m good with a spanner or failing that an independent will surely sort it.
