E30 M3 standard size tyre options
Discussion
Not M3 but Merc equivalent with the same sizes. Have had a few tyres and done 60k so didn't think you'd mind my jumping in.
Toyo T1-R were good, if slippy the first 100 miles.
Pirelli P6000 bad - had blowout on track.
Avon ZX-something - good
Nexen - very bad!! (I was desperate at the time!)
If I could I would go Toyo.

I'm using Bridgestone Adrenalin RE-002 on my E30. Very good, but not excellent, grip in the dry. Good wet grip. Very good steering, at least in terms of response delay, I can't comment on feedback as I need to sort out my steering system. Good ride. It is the only sports tyre I could find locally in 205/55R15. The other option was a Continental Premium Contact, which is obviously not a sports tyre!

Sportrac 5 is the other one to check out, should have a slightly firmer sidewall than the RE002

What makes you think that. It looks like the Bridgestone is a much stiffer design, just look at the difference in tread pattern.http://lovetyres.com/tyre/Vredestein-Sportrac-5/20...

I'm not sure what the treadpattern has to do with construction stiffness!

I've "felt" both of them, the RE002 is surprisingly soft on the sidewall.

Interesting. The tread pattern often gives a clue to the target market for a tyre. The Vredestein Sportac5 tread pattern looks much less stiff than the Bridgestone. The Vredestein really doesn't look like a high performance tyre at all, it looks like a comfort tyre.I'm not sure what the treadpattern has to do with construction stiffness!
