Driving home last night after 24 days stuck on an oil-rig and a small deer did the death leap at me. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. New bumper, bonnet, headlight, maybe a wing needed now. I stupidly didn't bother with courtesy car cover as my plan was to use the wife's car if anything happened. Slight problem there is that we separated 4 weeks ago and she is 600 miles away in england, where I am supposed to be driving tomorrow to see her and my daughter. Merry fecking christmas. On the plus side, the car got me home, appears purely superficial damage and most importantly the Evolve carbon airbox which is declared but not covered by the insurance is not damaged. Oh and I'm ok too.

Sorry to see you've had some bad luck! As you say, at leat the damage is superficial and the carbon Airbox (and you!) are ok! Sounds like it could have been a lot worse.

Some Muppet drove into the front wing of my stationary E46 M3 the other day. Complete moron who shouldn't have a driving license, especially as there was enough space for 5 flipping cars where he was parking!!!

The main thing is that you are OK!

I had a similar fright back in November when my steering failed in the M6 and me and my daughter were onboard. Very very fortunate it was close to home and the car was parked up safely very quickly.

I did similar damage (less on the bonnet) on my 2004 M3 & the repair bill as just over £4200, all claimed under insurance. New bonnet, passenger wing, bumper, headlight, indicator, bumper bar behind bumper, wheel arch liner & airbox.

Bummer dude. I drive rural roads and this sort of thing crosses my mind a lot.

Could have been much worse, I remember seeing a picture of a 3 series that had the carcass in the cabin after it had come through the windscreen.
