In sport+ does the f10 have some sort of antilag going on ? It feels like there is strong pressure already in the blowers. Reponse on the throttle is just barking !
In fact I have to say that the peformance of this car is truly insane. The out and out capability and ground covering potential, laugh out loud stupid .... much much faster than the spec sheet would suggest. I've not driven any of the very latest supercars (650s, f12, 991t, speciale) but this m5 feels every bit as brutal as stuff like GTR, 997 GT2, 997 turbo S pdk, LP560 etc. As always its not just the power and torque but the gearbox and the whole manner in which it delivers its power.

I've not driven an F10 but have driven an F13 M6 a few times ad agree that the straight line speed is absolutely mental. The way these things get from 60 to 120 and well above is staggering. It's the fastest car I've been in (and I've been in some very nice cars)
However.... Next week I'm lucky enough to have been offered to be taken out in a McLaren 12C which will, I'm I'm sure, make the M6 feel rather sedate. More powerful but a massive 1/2 tonne lighter Nd a smaller footprint in the air.

You have higher boost in Sport+ all the time, so increases response times, it's the only way to drive it really out of town.In fact I have to say that the peformance of this car is truly insane. Prior to the running-in service (1,200 miles) I was a good boy and didn't touch Sport+. On the way back from the dealership, having had the service, I selected Sport+ and mashed the throttle. The speed at which the rear end of the car attempted to overtake the front while travelling at triple figures will have forever left a mark in my undercrackers.

My mate who worked for top gear for a decade (and who has been in pretty much everything) got out pretty shaken. He said exactly what sutcliffe said (without having ever seen that video), that the momentum and weight of it all reminded him of a veyron.
Theres also a guy on one of the m5 forums who thinks his PE m5 is as quick as his 991 turbo ... perhaps quicker in certain gears.

Ok thanks so out and out more power in sprt+.
I'm thinking talso hough that the turbos are kept spinning at a low rpm, thats what it feels like.
Yep more boost turbo's spun up ready.I'm thinking talso hough that the turbos are kept spinning at a low rpm, thats what it feels like.
Power needs "feeding in" on these cars not just mashing the pedal, if you mash the pedal you will be in the hedge row or shop front.
Does Sport and Sport+ not also make the pedal more sensitive? So 50% pedal travel on Comfort and 50% pedal travel in Sport doesn't mean the same power being requested? (I'm not sure how to word this properly).
i.e. if you have a constant throttle and then swap from Comfort to Sport, you'll speed up.

yes definitely .... very easy to try, just keep your foot fixed and cycle the button, the car will lunge forward when you engage +i.e. if you have a constant throttle and then swap from Comfort to Sport, you'll speed up.
My only disappointment with the M6 is the noise inside the cabin is so dreary in my opinion. It replaced an E92 M3 which had an engine which sounded so much nicer and was so, so much more exciting. But there's no denying just how effective the new engine is. It's stonking and the M6 is such a good, capable daily (and I'm sure the M5 is all but the same with a different interior)
Did it the other way round Jackal, had an FF, and also ran a well spec'd 5 series as a daily. Preferred being in the M5, comfort, tech, solid feel, much nicer place to be than the FF. Yes FF sounded great, but other than that I prefer my M5..it is a 30 jahre one with the carbon brakes & the akrap M exhaust, so it does stop & go well, sounds good too, but not in the FF catergory soundwise
But made the right choice, I think the M5 is a far better all round car, certainly nicer to be in

Very interesting Chris. Love all the alcantara in the Jahre, really sets it off. Would have thought the FF cabin would have been wonderful too though ?But made the right choice, I think the M5 is a far better all round car, certainly nicer to be in
I bought an M perf carbon rear spoiler for my car. Just need to figure out how to fit it. Might go for the carbon mirrors as well. Also Hayward and Scott are going to design and build me a set of rear pipes to improve the sound and they will be availble to all after that. Could be a very good cost effective solution.
Test drove a 2013 M6 almost one year back and to this day the feeling of relentless power has not left me.
Waiting for them to drop a little more and an M5/M6 will be mine.
I have a feeling the M5's are going to suddenly drop quite a bit and level off again around the 30-34k mark and again stay there and drop off to around 22-25k mark. Always the case with M cars.
Really a master piece of an engine and gearbox. The only paddle shift I have used that actually changes the gear quicker than I can blink and when I want it to. AMAZING!
