Hi there,

Prior to selling, can someone please tell me if these are series 1 or 2 headlamps? Can it be identified by the looks or how can I find it out?

What would be a good price?

thanks in advance

IIRC, M3 headlamps were never face lifted during the production run.
Non M3 E46 were, M3''s were not.

Yes they were, not in shape, but in function. The first run were xenon with a halogen full beam. The replacements were bi-xenon.

Providing the light is complete, ballasts and bulbs working, no broken mounting points, they will still fetch a good price. Have a look on Ebay to get an idea.

Hello,

I have sold the lights to a guy, now yesterday he comes back to me stating that he couldn't pass the MOT because the lights were from an RHD car? Is this possible? He said that they can't be
switched to lhd?

Unless you sold them to him with the express guarantee they would pass MOT equivalent elsewhere I don't see what the problem is - he should have checked tbh.

However, you can change the beam direction on facelift M3 headlamps as I've done it on mine. Pre facelift may be the same. You remove the large plastic cap behind the xenon unit and there's a plastic toggle switch on the side of the assembly you can flick up or down to change direction. You need fingers with about 6 joints if the units are in the car, but it's possible.

Mine are facelift and have the word 'XENON' written in large letters on the chrome around the projector.

Standard xenon were upgraded to bi-xenon in September 2001 - so very early on in production.
