I'm selling my 996tt and being offered an m3 2008 coupe 58k miles as p/ex. Not what i would have gone for but quite fancy trying one for a short time. Anyway, can anyone tell me roughly how much depreciation to expect on these in a year, also any weak points I should look/listen for on seeing it? Thanks

Conrod bearings and throttle actuators. Make sure you get it on the BMW Mondial insurance as soon as possible, if not already on a running warranty period, especially before 60K miles, and you can ignore the potential weaknesses mentioned.

I'd have thought an early v8 with over 50k miles would have done most of its depreciating by now. Keep it below 80k and you shouldn't lose much.

Warranties are nice to have, but they're very reliable engines.
