M3 BMW AUC info please! Imminent purchase

I've been thinking about an e90 m3 for ages and had planned to trade my 330d in for one next year, however this has now broken down so I have arranged a loan today and am going to get the m3! I'm a bit wary but it's the right time to do it.
Pretty sure I want the convertible but a bit disappointed to read it's 200kg heavier!!! I think on balance though I won't feel the drop in performance but will enjoy having the top down on trips away etc.
I'm pretty set on getting AUC because I want a decent warranty and should help with resale.
Any guidance on what I can expect from AUC in terms of perks and potential discount. I have read a bit already and it seems to vary. I think I read they will respray panels etc if not perfect?!?

I'd press for a mix of the following - £1k off, 2 years free servicing, a 2 year warranty, Seal & Protect kit, new tyres if not perfect, M lifestyle goodies, mats and if you are feeling especially tough, then some Motorsport carbon mirror covers.

I bought my e92 18 months ago as an AUC & it was my first AUC so had no experience.
In hind sight, I should have pushed for the 2 year warranty, as previously said, as I believe it can be done. I also wish I had turned down the Supaguard offer. If I remember correctly it was £500. I could have done a better job on the paint with a bottle cheap polish myself, however mine is only one example....& whatever they did to the interior was pretty good.
They also offered me GAP insurance for £300, I said no & they immediately offered it at £150 for 3 years.
Nothing else sticks in the memory for me. It went back for 2 or 3 minor things under warranty & that was fine, no problems at all.

I would just push for as much discount as possible, there seems to be plenty of M3 coupes around so you are not in a bad position.
I got GAP of 15k for 3 years for 112£ from the highly rated, by Which magazine etc, ALA
2nd years warranty is the only thing I would be keen on, my understanding from what I read on here is the second year would be the BMW Insured Warranty, which has a few minor differences on what is covered compared to the AU warranty. but well worth it.

I used to get a rough initial value from Parkers or from similar PH/Ad Trader ads.
When you phone them about the car, ask them about the work they've had to do to it to make it ready for sale. That should give you an idea of how much they have in the car. They always seemed happy to send me copies of the work they'd done by email.
I would also try and find out how long they have had it for sale. They may well say it has just come in, but the worksheet may have a date on it. The DVLA Check if a car is taxed site may also be useful if they've had it a while.
Finally, I would ask for the information from the service section of iDrive just so that you know when the various things will need to be done.

Right I went and looked at one today - very nice car, seemed a fair price compared to others of a similar spec on the AUC site. Ive not really spent much time looking elsewhere to compare.
The salesman was helpful but stated a few things - the price was set, its already been reduced and if it doesn't sell at that they will move to another dealership before they will reduce it, can't offer 24 months warranty, service pack wasn't taken out at new so it can't be added now. Basically no negotiation. He said there were 2 new tyres at 7mm and 2 at 4mm. I wonder if they would look at replacing those.

You can get a 2 year service pack can be added regardless of whether a service pack was opted at purchase.

If you like the car and the salesman know's you are serious about buying the car make him an offer you would be happy with and tell him that you will buy the car today if can deal at that price and make it clear you will walk if he can't.
Regarding if the price is good or not,post a link and let the forum decide.

Sound advice.Have a good look on all the sites Auto Trader eBay PHeads etc and look at all specs and prices and see if it is good value.This time of year can be very slow for used sales so you can be in a better position to negotiate.Once you find the one you want, make your firm that you are happy to pay. Just try to get the lowest mileage with the best spec for your budget and make sure it has the correct service history.
PX for the car at JCT is £24.1k.

So it will be interesting when it needs its next oil change and whether the diff oil, filters and spark plugs have been done recently as they are normally 'due' around 30k miles with CBS. BMW will charge you around £750-850 for that.

How much is left on the front and rear pads - iDrive will tell you - each is about £225 at a dealer.

Don't half get a mixed response from BMW. Just spoke to a place who tried to tell me that they don't have a car in yet, but when it comes in, it will be sold before it even gets there, so I should agree figures over the phone now, and then come and look at it!

Now test driven an coupe and a convertible. Really can't decide. I think im leaning more towards the coupe but everyone is telling me convertible!
What do people think is better, considering i'll be putting a higher than average mileage one - buying a car with low miles but a bit older, or getting a newer one with more miles on? In general what affects cost more?
Lastly, if I get 12 month warranty, or possible negotiate 24 months, what happens at the end of that period? Will I always get the option to extend for another year or not?
