Not my find, but copied from M3Cutters... (http://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/showthread.php?t=142683)

Short version: The potential purchaser did a history/MOT data check and found the last MOT showing 140k, the current one showing 98k... scratchchin

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...

I'm not accusing anyone, however, I'd STRONGLY advise anyone looking at this M3 (or any other), would do well to do a mileage check/compare old MOT data etc...

Along with all other relevant stuff... smile

Interesting - I always thought you had to have V5 info to check MOT history.

In this case, there is no 'alledgedly':

Reg - Sv53 hdh
DVLA URL - https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

140k miles in March:
Test date26 March 2015
Expiry date26 March 2016
Test ResultPass
Odometer reading140,825 miles
MOT test number1951 4598 5429

98k miles in September:
Test date16 November 2015
Expiry date15 November 2016
Test ResultPass
Odometer reading98,164 miles
MOT test number5843 3933 1230

As the trader is saying the mileage has been converted from km to miles, I'd take that as an admission that he has had the odometer adjusted.

It would be interesting to check the service history..

I wouldn't take the MOT info as gospel, i've seen loads of them with discrepancies/wrong info.

The service history should reveal the true story though (although not always).

Seems to have changed a few months back when the service when offline for a time. When I bought my car you needed the V5 or the VIN, so had the link stored in the phone and viewed the car and took the VIN number while checking them.
Now seems much better in that you can spot a car and check on it in seconds and catch a few people out and see past MOT fails and advisories and get an idea things to check and bargaining points. A change for the better from the DVLA for once.

140k kms when changed would be 87k miles, could have possible done 10k miles driving since?

I doubt that's an import.

The SV plate is from Aberdeen. Maybe John Clark BMW will have some history of the car?

The thick ones bin the service history, the smart ones buy a blank service history and stamp it up themselves.

I've seen loads of cars for sale that were probably clocked and had the service history that proves it "misplaced".

I nearly bought a car where the dealer assured me that it'd been serviced by a specific garage that no longer exists (dealer of defunct marque). When I spoke to the previous owner they'd never had it serviced!

Checking the tax, it says a first registration date of 08 September 2003. If it were an import wouldn't that be when first registered with DVLA, so if it was imported in 2008 it would give that date ?
