57 plate 2008 manual model, 48k miles in Silverstone 11, black leather etc. non EDC.
£22k, a BMW AUC car with full years BMW warranty.
Too expensive guys?
Was looking to pay up to £20k but this was mentioned to me and has caught my eye. It would only be used when i'm off work so most probably the car would only cover 3k miles a year max so would only be on approx 60k miles if I kept it for 4 years.
Thoughts and comments appreciatedsmile...

If you can push a bit higher and get a late 2009 model, you'd have the updated iDrive (CIC). I think they're going nearer 27k though.

However having the latest iDrive may not bother you if its not a daily...

I hope you've got a few more quid laying around to run it ... the best I ever managed from mine was 21mpg when driving like a fairy, 'normal' driving 18-19mpg, driven as intended ... er, about 12mpg. Still if it really is only a few thousand miles a year it shouldn't matter too much.

Have you driven one? In my experience it's not a special enough car to keep "as a special car".

This one has the latest i/drive, I believe? "just" 24k I agree with you, wouldn't be a consideration for me if not a daily.

Do not pay 22k for a 2008 car, price should be closer to 18, their looking about 4grand above top book price!!!

Good spot that, I didn't realise cars with this sort of milage could be had for 24k... I need to save my pennies so I can join the club too!

Lovely cars and that engine is very special one of the best BMW have ever made, if you're into howling 8.4k 420hp n/a V8 that scream to the top then yes it's a special car makes many of the older M cars seem breathless, it has such long legs.

The chassis is superbly balanced and even a hamfisted driver like me can have fun wagging the tail, but at high speed it will bite especially at the top end of the rev range in MDM.

As far as price is concerned yes you can get a 90k miler from motorhub for 18k, but who would want to do that? AUC with BMW warranty is worth the extra.

I've owned EDC and non EDC and CP the CP is better but they are still 30k+ the non EDC is very good and nicely damped and goes very well on 18" (the purer set up was 18" and non edc) and I think they look very good to with a nice tyre/wheel ratio, I also had 19" on my non EDC with Cup+ tyres

20-22k for a low miles well looked after example is a bargain.

Yes but don't think they were introduced until 2010 and, as Wills has pointed out, you see very few honest examples below £30k (if any!).

Yes I have, I presently drive a 335i with a small remap that goes very well but the torque and noise of the M3 was intoxicating up at the higher end of the rev range, sounded so aggressive to meevil...
I understand what your saying about not being special enough but it seemed such a capable good looking car to me after driving a couple...

As you said i'll only be covering a few thousand miles a year and I have owned a few gutsy cars over the years but thanks for the warning...

The prices have shot up loads!

I can't believe a car that will be 10 years old next year is going for £22,000.

I nearly bought a 58 plate last December (2104 I mean) with 55k miles on it for just under £17k. I was put off because it was the older iDrive and then xmas got in the way and I stopped looking afterwards. But looking at the prices again tonight seems they are up a lot.

Privately you could land a low mileage, low owner car for circa £18k if you bide your time. Just purchased one a few weeks back and lots of cars are sticking and its a good time to buy in that sense. Although they are a great car and a brilliant daily driver (if you can stomach the fuel costs) I don't think its a good 'weekend toy' as its more accomplished than fun in reality.

What book is that ? The one that is always wrong ? wink

At the end of the day, the best price indicator is what's on the market at a given time.

The prices they fetch now is impressive, I traded mine in back in November 2013 and it was a sept 2009 model with the later idrive and EDC, manual with 41k miles on it(purchased it with 31k on it) and it went up on the AUC site for £26k back then.

They just don't depreciate it seems.

You won't get a 2008 "AUC" car for 18K regardless of its spec.

The book that every dealer uses to value your car at trade in, you see they buy cheap and sell expensive, but 22k is a complete rip off.

Op buy private and save 4grand!
