Is mirror John still the person to use?

Got the dreaded liquid bubble in my rear view mirror yesterday. I've taken it out before the liquid escapes and melts the interior.

Cheers. I wasn't sure if there was another option - he's been selling replacements for years.

I'll get one ordered.

One thing to add, I followed the instructions on line but took a safe shortcut that removed the necessity for taking the whole mirror off the screen. When I popped the mirror cover off, ( the thin one around the glass) I just unplugged the lense from the car there and then. Once the pcb was soldered onto the new mirror I just plugged it back into the car and popped the cover back on.
Took 30mins including firing up my aged gas soldering iron.

I've already taken the whole unit off the screen - didn't want to risk the liquid leaking out. Have you seen what it does to anything it comes into contact with? It's like alien blood!

Ordered a replacement glass yesterday - should be here Tuesday.

Fair enough. Yeah it's horrible stuff, once I googled it and saw the damage it can do I literally ran to the garage and threw an old duvet over the dash. My misses thought I'd lost the plot !

The bottom half of it has gone dark, but I can still see things with it. No blurriness or anything.

I've learned to live with it, but I didn't realise until I read this thread the damage the liquid can do if it finally lets go.

I've now ordered a new glass off MirrorJohn.

New one here.

Really easy to fit. All tested and back in the car.
