E61 touring at Marshalls
Discussion
Does anyone know this car? It seems to have been in and out of the classifieds quite a bit and price seems lowish for a main dealer, especially compared to others that are around at the moment. E61 Touring
Thanks for reply, basically if it was a diamond or dog. Advert gone now of Autotrader but still seems to be on Marshalls website: It seems to get advertised then taken down. I've emailed Marshalls for info re. what work it's had done, but not heard anything back yet, maybe it has sold and they've not updated their site.
Hi mate im constantly searching for it on autotrader and it comes and goes as you say
Gone from AUC too so possible sold now (AUC advert always stayed put despite what AT was doing)
Car done me proud loved it to bits and miss it alot! Brought it at 59k miles so got cheaper warranty at 90/month. Had 9k worth of claims on it, but all stuff that wasnt M5 only issues, ie pan roof replaced (twice!) Which is common on e61 and X5 models. And rear DSC ABS pump, again something else that happens across the range. No M5 specific issues which was great! Still on original clutch (which isnt unheard of) still on original rod bearings (which was a worry if im honest, despite the warranty!) But everything else was great. Very well specc'd car
My advert specs below when i listed it on here, let me know if you need to know anymore!
Old advert:
Here for sale is my 2007 BMW E61 M5 Touring
As you may already know these cars are extremely rare, BMW made only 222 of these in RHD. With currently only 2 of those for sale between two of the most well-known car selling websites.
I searched high and low for this particular car, being very specific about the mileage and spec I was looking for in the car.
The car is Black Sapphire Metallic with (Extended) Indianapolis Red Interior with contrasting Brushed Aluminium Interior Mouldings.
The standard specs of the car are as follows:
Cat 1 Alarm
Driver and passenger fully electric memory seats (Heated)
Xenon headlights with washers
Automatic Air Conditioning
Cruise Control
Exterior Light Package
High Gloss Shadow line trim
Anthracite Headlining
Optional Equipment fitted to this car are as follows:
Side Airbags for rear passengers
Automatic Boot Opening + closing
Soft Close Automatic Doors
Roof Rails
Electric Panoramic Roof
Warning Triangle + First Aid Kits
Interior/Exterior Mirror with Auto Dip
Ski Bag Hatch
Isofix system on rear seats
Storage Compartment package
Active Backrest width Adjustment to hold you in when making “progress”
Park Distance Control, Front and Rear Adaptive headlights (move with steering)
High Beam Assistant (auto off-on when approaching-leaving traffic)
Head Up Display
Professional Sat Nav
BMW Assist
Voice Control
Mobile phone preparation
DAB radio
6 CD Changer
Professional Hi-Fi System (Logic 7)
USB Audio Interface
Car is currently on 66,300Miles but will rise as used daily.
Car has its big 60K service in December-January which included, oil, oil filter, air filters, cabin filters, spark plugs, rear diff fluid, gearbox fluid. And is showing 12,000 until its next service, which will be a routine oil service.
The car has recently had, at BMW, a new DSC/ABS Pump (Circa £3000) – Common issue on E60 and E90 variants, and a new Panoramic Sunroof (again Circa £3000) – common issue on these E61 5 series touring’s and all X5 models.
The car has full BMW Service History (Except one brake fluid change at an independent prior to my ownership) which has allowed me to use my Fully Comprehensive BMW Warranty to cover the above items.
I have also changed the following in my ownership of the car, Front and Rear Discs + Pads + Sensors, along with both MAF sensors, so these all have plenty of life left in them!
The car is in good condition, it has a few age related marks to be expected on an 8 year old 60K+ mile car. The wheels are in good condition but some are showing some ware from a past powder coating refurbishment. The interior is in excellent condition.
The above is all soon forgotten once the car is started up. The Engine pulls incredible well once it has reached its optimum temperature (which I am really strict with myself on!) and sounds amazing. (I REALLY don’t want to sell it, so I will be firm on prices!)
The Oil usage since its last service in December has been minimal, only calling for 1 litre (a week ago) on 66,148miles since it was serviced on 63,691 on 7th December 2014.
These cars are known for using around a 1 litre of oil every few thousand miles, and they do like a drink also (Super unleaded). I have been averaging around 18mpg which I think is fair for the performance on offer, I have seen 24mpg on a long 150mile drive recently. These cars cannot be maintained on a shoestring budget.
As you can see I have made a few cosmetic changes to the car in my ownership, these include the tinted windows, gloss black kidney grills, and black side vent grills, which I have painted the same colour as the car, I have all original items if needed also.
Viewings can be arranged when time allows, but test drivers and tyre kickers need not apply, only those who can provide fully comprehensive insurance will drive. I am happy though to show serious buyers how nicely this car drives.
If you have any questions please let me know.

What happened with this in the end? I went for a look at it at Marshall's before I bought my E90, and they hadn't even bothered cleaning it inside or out. It was presented very poorly. It was also being sold on winter tyres, IIRC.
Any idea why it was in and out of the classifieds? I'm pretty sure it's not at Marshall's any more, I was in there fairly recently and don't recall seeing it.
Are you local, DannyB?

Around the time I posted it appeared on AT for a day or so then disappeared though I didn't see it listed on the official BMW site. There also seemed to be 2 Marshalls websites running simultaneously, one had it listed the other didn't
I think this particular M5 is like the Flying Dutchman, mysteriously appearing then vanishing just as quickly. Someone else who replied about another main dealer E61 M5 I enquired about, said that was poorly prepared as well, is money coming too easily to them?

Not sure if its still on the books there? Sales man was telling me how Marshall hand out fines if a car is on the books for too long.
Car was part exchanged with vredestein winter tyres correct
Im in east anglia region, about an hour from the garage

If you're still interested in an E61 I have a very similar one that i'm thinking of selling. It's the same colour & spec except for the soft close doors & also comes with the optional wheels. It's got the full Mondial warranty & on 56k miles so still eligable for the cheaper warranty! I'm over the water in East Yorkshire if you're interested.

Cheers for that, though I'm looking to pick up a low mileage main dealer one if possible, get 2 years warranty thrown in, then still be under the magical 60,000 miles after the 2 years. The feeling might have gone by the time one that fits the bill turns up though. One thing I've noticed with a lot of E61 M5's for sale, is that they're just over the 60,000 mile mark: Surely if you're thinking of selling you'd do it just before 60,000 so people have the option of going for the cheap(ish) Mondial warranty. Good look with yours.Mags said:
Interesting colour combo, got any pics?
Don't have access to my computer at the moment with the pics onBut here's the link to the car at sytners. I have no affiliation to them at all by the way!!

Was originally registered in aberdeen and I bought it from a specialist in fife, who had taken it from bmw aberdeen where it had been traded in.
Brilliant car, wanted for nothing, ran it for just over 2 years as my daily driver, replacing a e350 estate and a 996 turbo s, did everything so well. Managed to combine the best of both previous cars in one,and i never once missed the pace of the 911.
Even handled a trip to Wick in the depths of winter, through a horrendous snowstorm - it did have the option m184 winter wheels and tyres on though! (Which I still have if anyone's interested!!)
