Litchfield M4 Map
Discussion
Anyone got the piggyback unit for the M4 from Litchfield?
I have a competition pack M4. Considering the tuning box rather than the full ECU remap as I want to be able to return it to normal quickly without having to take the car to a tuner. Plus I quite like my BM warranty :-)
Are there any other options to the Litchfield worth considering?
Cheers

TDI Tuning have a Tuning box for the M4. I ran one of their Tuning boxes on a 2015 Audi S3 for a year and had no problems whatsoever and it transformed the car. I'm thinking of getting one from them for the M2 I'm getting in March and I've been invited to a rolling road session paid for by them to see what increases their new three channel box will give the M2 before I commit as I'm an existing customer. If you call them ask for Steve as he's a very knowledgeable guy. I had a 45 minute chat with him about their new three channel CRTD4 Tuning box with SENT technology which the M4 and M2 have and the guy knows his stuff.

Apparently BMW have developed software that can read if your F80 M3/4s has been tuned past a preset "bhp limit" (regardless of method) via the OBD port.
If the ECU logs that you have exceeded the cap then they have the option void your warranty.
That doesn't surprise me as Audi have had this facility for a few years now.If the ECU logs that you have exceeded the cap then they have the option void your warranty.
I realise Tuners are a very personal thing, but of those available i'd be spending my money with DMS or Evolve, both of whom are known for their history in BMW M tuning & both of whom offer an insurance backed warranty.

You got it in one, they read my mates 2015 M3 as being over boost, warranty gone.If the ECU logs that you have exceeded the cap then they have the option void your warranty.
He needed a new gearbox, got it stripped and re-built by an indy in the end, BMW wanted none of it.
The AC Schnitzer unit is a piggy back box, however, it does retain the BMW warranty and they also offer a two year warranty included in the cost of £3,045. A further 3rd year warranty can be bought when you buy the piggy back ecu.
I've just been speaking to AC Schnitzer UK (Rossiters) and the product does sound good but it is a fair chunk of money.
