Appreciate this has been asked before (many times!), but does no EDC really make a difference?

Been looking for a manual one for a while & seen one which might do, has some other options I want but missing EDC, so should I continue looking, is it worth it?

Cheers

It's nice, but not essential (ex E92 owner speaking here). I found my coupe was fine without it, but it's the thirst you want to worry about more.

Ive just bought an e92 M3 Manual with EDC

I would say it does make a difference in the sense the 3 modes are handy. Having it set to comfort on the motorway does make the ride fairly supple.

Having the steering wheel M button set with the sport mode for EDC and it tightens up markedly.

I could live without it for sure but I'd deffo prefer having the option.

When I bought my e90 it was one of the options I thought I must have.

Im glad I ended up with a car with it specced as there is quite a difference between the 3 settings and of course you avoid the dreaded blank button on the centre console.

Ive heard the setup in a non EDC car is pretty good but if I was in the market for a e9x M3 again I would be searching for a car with it.

I've heard mixed emotions regarding the MPG. Some people claim 30MPG is not doable whereas others claim it is...

Thanks for the replies so far, sounds like many are still
suggesting it's neededfrown

As for MPG, it'll do 3-4K per annum, & I'm use to circa 22 on another car so it's fine, relatively!

My car is/was non EDC, driven a car with it before, the setup is decent with the passive dampers and maybe breathes a fraction more naturally, but the EDC does offer a bigger range of ride and handling depending on what you want obviously.

I have an Ohlins R&T kit on it now which is great, but obviously you have to crawl around underneath to adjust it!

No offence to the OP but personally I'm not sure I can endure another E9x EDC thread.

From an owner who's had both it's really not important. And with the stock of good E9x's ageing fast I'd suggest there are a whole bunch of other, much more important boxes to tick first.

I currently have the dreaded blank EDC button and it shames me every time I jump in my car... biglaugh

Totally understand your point, hence my (half hearted albeit) apology in advance.

As you imply, & as I've found well specced manual E92's, are very thin on the ground.

Aside from the EDC; what are your other must haves/desirable spec?

Looked at these with a mate and 11 manual coupes were disregarded for various issues before a cracking 12th was found with high spec, good miles, AUC, but like most no EDC.

I'd therefore agree 100% with the chap who said there are more important things to tick off than EDC. I've certainly enjoyed all manuals I drove without it, but respect more the opinion of those who own them with/without wink

This one is near me, has EDC.

Read it wrong, thought was asking what was essential spec, not what OP wanted.

Mine was manual and had EDC, I think the most essential option is one with a supercharger fitted and upgraded brakes. biggrin

I've driven both EDC and non EDC and I don't think it's essential but a nice to have, the blank button would drive me nuts though.

Morning all. Must be manual & white, I did test a DCT purely out of interest & as good as it is, & it suits the engine, I love manuals - plus my dailes a DSG due to mileage.

I'd like 19's (oddly often prefer smaller wheels but think they look much better on 19's), heated seats, DAB, red leather would be nice but not essential.

I purchased a White MY2011 E92 6 weeks back without EDC . There was two I was interested on both AUC BMW cars. Both same price but the non EDC was 15,000 miles less and I also got a 2 year warranty with it instead of 1 so it was a no brainer for me. I find the suspension fine and there is less to go wrong.

I have dct and its white but not many more options. I havent heated seats which is fine as I used that once in 3 years on my previous bmw.

I havent got electric mirrors either and not sure if I can get these coded to go in and out on key entry if I have no option to do this manually.

My list was it has to be 2010 or later as wanted the better sat nav. then dct and 19's - that's it. Everything else is a bonus

I was thinking about the 2 pipe exhaust mod but its loud enough for me already , in fact I wouldn't be suprised if I already have it!!

Heated seats were standard equipment on LCI cars I thought.

I thought LCI was just rear lights, diff sat nav , lower seats and some extra lighting .

Mine is my2011 and hasn't heated seats .

I want LCI too, & quite a few don't have heated seats.

White LCI's with EDC, manual & AUC are rare, very rare.....
