Two questions I'd welcome members views on:

1. Interested in buying an M4 coupe with the Competition package however other than 20" alloys I'm not sure it's good value. Thoughts on whether it's good value and will it help sell the car in the future?

2. Not sure whether I'll go for a new or a 6 month old car. What level of discount can I expect on a new car supplied by a main dealer?

Many thanks.

There's a pretty long thread in this sub-forum re: M3/4 discounts.

Standard BMW deposit contribution has dropped significantly in this quarter - have a look at Coast2Coast to get an idea of total discount available now.

Personally I think the CP is good value. The seats are better, you get more power and better (IMO) wheels. The HK audio option is also cheaper with CP.

Whether it is worth the premium new is up for debate, the power increase is marginal, the US magazines have figured them both and found no difference in terms of performance, the seats look funky but have no adjustable lumber support so if you need that for comfort then it's a no, the wheels are down to personal choice but BMW have started offering the 19" as well on the CP because many people really didn't like the design of the 666m (they do look better in the flesh though)

You get some software changes that give a few pops and bangs from the exhaust and they have tweaked the DSC and EDC to give better traction/more manageable slip in MDM, they didn't lower the car though as they did with the e92 CP so it still has that silly gap at the front arch.

The UK CP reviews have been positive though even from Sutcliffe so it must be good.

If I was buying a new one today it would be a toss up between the CP or a civic version with fancy paint and full leather but I wouldn't automatically plump for the CP.

I was tempted by this a CP M4 in LBB with full leather last month but the deal they offered was rubbish against my current F80 M3, the camera doesn't do justice to the LBB paint looks wonderful in the flesh.
