Apologies for asking a question thats no doubt been asked many times before, but I could not find the answer in the search function.

Whats the recommended pads and disks for an E92 M3 for mainly road use with one/two trackdays a year for a novice driver (my friends car).

Any recommendations welcome.

Thanks.

Differing opinions on this one. Some say std disks with DS2500. Others say Pagids RS19s.

Best check out M3cutters.

i think for normal use the std step up will suffice.

For everyday stuff I'd stick with standard.

Depending on the kind of track days you plan to hit (small sessions (i.e 30 mins for the day) or open pitlane) I'd get Pagid RS29s).

I don't believe RS29s are available for the E9x M3

I personally think this pad is overkill for the odd session.

OP, might also be worth seeking out Hawk HP+ pads. Very good alround pad.

I had RS19's (similar to the RS29 compound which isn't available 3) on the OEM brakes as a temporary measure before I fitted the Alcon kit. With the standard calipers you're always going to get crap pedal feel and have to be careful of how much you ask of them to avoid fluid boiling but the RS19's hung on pretty gamely so might be ok for a novice on short runs.

The RS19 or RS29 work perfectly fine cold, I've got RS29's on the Alcon kit in fact, but worth pointing out that particularly with the OEM kit, if you do many motorway miles with either pad (especially after running them on a track day) you will create a lot of disc thickness variation and will get judder. If you run a more aggressive pad on an old disc like I did then you will get proper comedy, dash loosening, 'she's coming apart at the seams, captain' amounts of judder without much effort

They also squeal like a bd on the OEM.

What do people think of Carbo Tech XP8's? - recommended to me for fast road/track use? I'm just about to change.
