G80 tyre opinions
Discussion
Wanted some thoughts on the old tyre question.
I have Pirellis on the car at the moment and I believe they are the original tyres from new (so 2.5 yrs and 21k miles old now). Everyone says Michelin Supersports or 4s but I had the Supersports on my old F82 and hated them, read some good reviews on the Goodyear F1 Supersports and they were awesome on the M4, anyone have any experience with them on the G82/81/82?

Again can’t comment on a G80 but my M4 (F83) comp is needing some new tyres so I’ve been round the whole tyre choice dilemma. Currently Yokohama Advans are fitted but not that impressed with them. After reading what seemed like endless reviews, forums etc I still could not really choose. Everything I read seemed to contradict the other. I guess at the end of the day it’s whatever suits you. Decided on the Continental SportContact 7’s.

Yeah I spent ages trying to choose a set for my F82 M4, read reviews saying PS4 is the only way to go, then another saying Contis all day long, another saying Pilot Supersports (which I was already unhappy with) and I saw a couple of reviews for the Goodyear F1 Supersports which were really positive. They were great on the M4, hopefully they'll be as good on the G80

Thanks for the comments, as I said I have been put off Michelin by the Supersports, I am sure they would be great on track, but as road tyres in cooler weather they had minimal grip. The Goodyear Supersports were superb even cold. I saw the tyre test video posted above and that's what made me go for them, I suspect they might overheat before the Michelins but I don't track the G80 as it's my daily driver. Honestly, I haven't driven on PS4s or 5s so my bias is totally illogical, but factoring in the fact that they are about £250 more for a set, I'm going to see if the Goodyears are as good on the M3. Watch this space - I am booked in at the end of the month
